Kevin and Jordan are a super cool couple from Los Angeles, both working in the film industry in Hollywood, so you can imagine what their wedding was like.
The Pre-Wedding Celebrations at Casa Blanca 7 Hotel
The festivities began the day before the wedding with a rehearsal dinner on the terrace of the Casa Blanca 7 Hotel; a super intimate event at sunset with spectacular views of downtown San Miguel. When night fell, the burrito, tequila, mariachis and mojigangas arrived to celebrate a small callejoneada in the hotel itself and a welcome party with all their guests. It was a perfect first day, documented digitally and on 35mm film.
The Wedding Day at Instituto Allende
Their preparations started at Casa San José where they got ready and after their first look and some portraits, we headed to Instituto Allende where the celebration took place.
The ceremony honored the Persian traditions of Kevin’s family and was very emotional, filled with tears and laughter that the Bride and Groom brought out in all the guests as they exchanged their vows.
After the cocktail hour, Instituto Allende became a movie set. Very Old Hollywood in style, it was filled with glamour and sophistication. Their reception was beautifully decorated with dramatic lighting, creating a sky of tiny warm lights that looked like little stars with delicate hanging flowers and a large disco ball in the center of the dance floor.
A black and white color palette with warm accents. Everything looked impeccable and elegant, the checkerboard dance floor and the styling of the tables decor with monochromatic elements created a romantic and classic illusion.
The reception was a bit unconventional, starting with a perfectly choreographed first dance by Jordan and Kevin, who eventually brought everyone onto the dance floor before dinner was served. Speeches and toasts were made by the family as night fell and the beautiful view of the Parroquia and the city lit up. After cutting the cake, a final toast was made by the Bride and Groom and Le Funk opened the dance floor. Jordan came out stunning in a second outfit for her party.
It was a Grammy-worthy night, documented with a mix of analog formats, including medium format and 35mm. There are weddings where the lighting does not help achieve an analog registry, but a wedding full of light, detail and glamour like Jordan and Kevin’s made it easy to document on film, especially with two of my favorite cameras (Leica R4 for 35mm and Yashica Mat for 120mm), and we got that cinematic magic in the final images. Photographing Jordan and Kevin’s was truly a pleasure.
